It is with great sadness that Fire & Safety Services announce the passing of service manager, friend, mentor and integral piece of the fabric of our organization for the last 34 years – Vincent Scalera.
In addition to his years at Fire & Safety Services, Vincent had worked for his family’s business, Scalera Bus Company in South Plainfield, and was also a former employee of Central Jersey Mack in Edison prior to joining Fire & Safety Services. He was also a dedicated member of the South Plainfield Fire Department and was an Exempt Fire Fighter who will be deeply missed by the department.
Vincent is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Scalera of Middlesex, his loving children Melissa Franco and her husband Richard of Branchburg and Nick Scalera and husband Jeff Jacobsen of Fort Mills, SC; his dear siblings, Denise Black and husband Michael of Jackson and Bruce Scalera of South Plainfield; his two cherished grandchildren, Mia and A.J. as well as his extended family and dear friends.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at The Church of the Sacred Heart, 149 S. Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 9am at the funeral home.
The family has requested that due to limited parking in the area that firefighters and fire departments coming to pay their respects please do not bring fire apparatus.

dealing with him over the years with our trucks , always willing to help
